Which Day of the Week Are You?

Have you heard this fortune-telling song before?

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day,
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Of course, this is not scientific – perhaps, it is a bit fated or fatalistic since it may be based on the premise of destiny. We can determine our lives by fate, destiny and luck, or by choices and circumstances. Couple hard work with proper technique, motivation, desire, a burning ambition and some luck – perhaps, that is a recipe for potential success.

I have learnt from my close friend in magic, author and journalist Lewis Jones how to determine the days of the year for any year over the past century and the coming one. Calendars follow a pattern so you need to appreciate how the 365-day calendar and leap year worked. Isn’t it interesting that if you were born on 29 February, that you, technically, had no birthday to celebrate for three years? Have you met a person who was one-quarter of their chronological age?

This is an exciting week for me. I will conduct two half-day workshops on professional relationships; have meetings with interesting people; have a lagoon swim, cast my vote in the upcoming Presidential Election and race in a long-distance run this weekend. I am also excited to announce that I will post my interview with Olympics gold-medalist swimmer-triathlete-pentathlete, Sheila Taormina this week. Stay tuned!
Leadership Lessons: Today, being Monday – how will you face this day? What will you do to add value to this day instead of moping about it? How far ahead do you think?
Make each day count.
