What Would You Ask A Leader?

At my recent class with union leaders, I challenged my students to ask questions of a community leader. It takes courage to openly ask questions. It is also a great opportunity to learn from a professional of experience. If you were having a dialogue with a leader, how would you engage him?

I would ask such comprehensive questions:

Which values do you stand for?

What motivates you?

Who do you turn to when you need guidance?

What is your approach to leading?

How do you make decisions?

Which were tough decisions you made?

How do you learn?

How do you balance your work and life (and community and self)?

Seek and you may find.
